I can’t remember a time when I didn’t know Gill. Everyone growing up in the Yeshurun community in those days seemed to know everyone else, plus she was in the same class as my brother Will at Cheadle Hulme and he talked about her often (Gill and Imogen… I never even met Imogen but I knew they came as a pair!)
Over the years, our paths have crossed many times and we often ended up sitting together at bar and bat mitzvahs, which was always an added bonus to any simcha. My husband Rob and I really enjoyed Andy’s company, too, and we looked forward to seeing both of them and spending time together. Always lots of chatting and lots of laughter.
I also remember the day after Mia was born, when I went to visit Julie (who had just given birth to Molly) and ran into two very proud parents with their gorgeous new daughter in a car seat on their way out.
When I think about Gill, most of all I think of her smile. The biggest and most genuine smile. She was the epitome of warmth, a bright spark of light and will be greatly missed by us all.
